Ailish CoRBETT
Gold winner of the 2018 Hamilton Spectator Readers Choice award, Ailish Corbett is an energetic and versatile artist. Not only does she paint but she also plays viola, violin and sings. She earned her Batchelor of Fine Art from McMaster University followed by a Batchelor of Music from McMaster University on viola.
As a multidisciplinary artist, Ailish enjoys using a wide variety of media to create her visual art. From paint, to recycled plastic and textiles, she is never afraid to experiment with new media. Ailish has always had a interest in collage and so her overarching style incorporates elements of collage, even within her painted works. Her love of collage is closely tied to her music experiences, as all music is created from combining simple units of pitch and rhythm. Because of this, Ailish enjoys creating visual work that is made of many small parts and layers that culminate in a harmonious whole.
In addition to painting, Ailish also teaches violin, viola, piano and music theory at her own private music studio, located in her home. Her students consistently receive high marks on their Royal Conservatory exams. She also records and performs with many local Hamilton acts such as Brave Oak and Alex Whorms and is available for session recording.
